About The PestBye

Humane garden pest control, made in Britain

The PestBye is a British brand that has specialised in humane pest deterrents for well over a decade. Our devices are designed in the UK to suit the realities of a British climate: the damp winters, the windy coasts, the endless drizzle, and the very particular problem of neighbourhood cats, urban foxes, grey squirrels and the occasional visiting mouse.

Instead of relying on poisons, glue traps or snares, every PestBye product uses a simple principle: make an unwanted visitor feel unwelcome, not unwell. A startling burst of water, a pulse of ultrasonic sound, or a flicker of motion-triggered light is often all it takes for a cat, fox or rodent to decide that your garden isn't the easy path it once thought it was. No physical contact. No harm. No lasting distress.

Our range covers the common pressure points British gardeners face. Ultrasonic cat repellers for flower beds and lawns. Solar-powered stakes for long-term installations that you simply want to "set and forget". A motion-activated jet spray for anyone who'd like their deterrent to be visibly doing something. Dedicated fox deterrents with tuned frequency ranges, and plug-in rat and mouse repellers that send ultrasonic and electromagnetic pulses through the walls and wiring of your home.

Why Gardeners Trust Us

A quietly effective, kind approach

Our deterrents work because they interrupt the habit, not the animal. A cat that is startled twice rarely comes back for a third visit, and a fox that finds an area uncomfortable moves its nightly route on. No chemicals, no contact, no cruelty.

Silent to humans, audible to pests only
Weatherproof housings rated for the British outdoors
Long-life batteries or fully solar operation
Two-year manufacturer's guarantee on every device

How It Works

The technology, in plain English

Every PestBye device blends a detection method with a deterrent output. Knowing which pair you need makes the choice much easier.

PIR motion detection

A passive infra-red sensor picks up the heat difference between a moving body and the background. That's what triggers the deterrent, so the unit is silent until it actually needs to act – saving battery life and sparing your ears.

Ultrasonic output

Our ultrasonic units emit pulses between 18 and 23 kHz for cats and rodents, and higher for larger mammals. Most adult humans can't hear above around 17 kHz, so the garden remains peaceful while the deterrent is clearly audible to the pest.

HyperResonance Frequency (HRF)

Animals get used to a steady tone, so our newer V2 models sweep across frequency bands instead of holding a single note. This HRF sweep prevents habituation and keeps the deterrent effective over weeks and months, not just the first few visits.

SmartLink wireless pairing

Higher-end units can link together wirelessly so that when one triggers, all paired units trigger in unison. That means a single cat can't simply dodge round one stake – the whole defended perimeter responds at once.

Electromagnetic pulses

Indoor whole-house units also send electromagnetic pulses through the wiring of your home. These pulses disturb mice and rats in the voids between walls and under floorboards, where pure ultrasound struggles to reach.

Water jet deterrence

For gardeners who want an unmistakably visible deterrent, the Jet Spray fires a 5-second arc of water whenever motion is detected. Harmless, surprising, and an extremely effective lesson for any curious cat or fox.

Kind to animals, useful to gardeners

We will never sell a trap, a poison or a snare. Every product we ship is designed to change behaviour without causing harm, because a garden full of healthy wildlife still needs a patch of lawn the cat isn't using as a toilet.

FAQs

Questions gardeners ask us most

Will the ultrasonic noise bother my pet dog or cat indoors?+

Our garden units are directional and only fire when something triggers the PIR sensor outside. Indoor pets across the lawn will rarely hear them at effective volume. Owners with a cat that visits the same garden as the unit should still point it away from their own pet's usual routes, or choose the Jet Spray as a gentler alternative.

How long before I see results?+

Most customers report a noticeable drop in visits within the first week, and a clear habit change within three to four weeks. Stubborn or territorial animals may need two units placed to cover both entry points to the garden.

Do I need more than one unit?+

A typical British back garden of up to around 100 m² is usually covered by one unit facing the most common entry point. Larger or L-shaped gardens often benefit from a second stake covering the opposite side, ideally linked by SmartLink.

Are the devices waterproof?+

All outdoor units are rated IPX4 or better, which means splashing rain and general British weather are no issue. We still recommend positioning them so the sensor face isn't directly catching rain from an open sky or the runoff from a gutter.
